Cavities (Dental caries) in primary teeth are the main reason for Pulp Therapy in Children’s Dentistry. The pulp is the inner central core of tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, connective tissue and reparative cells. Pulp Therapy is done to ensure the primary tooth is not lost.
Dr. Assil performs pulpotomy on her patients requiring “nerve treatment” or “root canal for children.” Pulpotomy removes the diseased pulp tissue inside the crown of the tooth. An agent to prevent bacterial growth and calm the remaining nerve tissue is then put in place. The final step is a stainless steel crown.
